For what it's worth, this is the first time I have ever seen "e-mailing me off group" remarked on as a violation of protocol. In most cases, it is considered *polite* to continue a discussion in e-mail when it has gone past the point purpose for a group (which this thread did in its first post, I concur).

What you are suggesting is something akin to a delicate post being visible to all, letter by letter, as it's typed. Such a post might go through many rewrites and So... anything set up off group would serve the purpose of an office, where the bits and pieces could be gradually assembled in a secure environment.

It's being caught up in fear and doesn't seem to go with a "course" group. But, if that's how they feel safe. I was unsubbed and banned on Course_Talk before I ever got a post on, because the first one I wrote mentioned the spin off group "Coarse_Talk". If you respond to an ad _please_ do it via e-mail or some other off-group method. I am posting this reminder since there has started to be a lot of advertising posted again. So, you may disagree with someone's point of view, you may want to flame someone or you may want to go through private Keep in mind that your actions affect the entire group, the atmosphere and whether people choose to continue to read and post.
